I was sitting around, trying to think of a good KG idea that both bigs and smalls could use, and I hit upon this.

A new training skill that requires Mathematics 7 and Better Construction Methods 5. It allows you to recover a certain percentage of the resources and gold used to build a building, or the gold used to train troops.

So for every level, it increases the maximum percentage that you can get (it ought to be random within a certain percentage) by 2%.

The effect would be if I disband 20k knights with level 1 Recovery, I get a random percentage of the gold used to train them between 0 and 2. With level 2, 0 and 4. With level 3, 0 and 6. With level 4, 0 and 8.... And it goes on to level 10, at which point you can get up to 20% of the gold or resources used to train troops and build buildings.

Doesn't it make sense that if I disband troops, I can sell their stuff for which I paid when I trained them and get money, or that when I burn a house, I can recover at least some of the stone in the foundation and some of the lumber in the rafters? Stone doesn't even burn if we get to the realism argument and not all the lumber would go up in flames.

Now anyone could use this once they get that far in their training and it would benefit everyone who used it. Bigs would get more resources and smalls would get less, but bigs need more than smalls anyway. Does this seem like a fair idea?

And it could be as simple as:

Your 100 houses have been burnt. You recovered x stone and x lumber.

And an equivalent message when disbanding troops.

Any thoughts?

instead of burning buildings, you could 'dismantle' them... the principle is nice, even more so for the 'decommissioning' of troops... but if you get into the realism argument, would you give back your last paycheck if you got laid off?

After more thought....I'm for the 'dismantling' of buildings, but not for the same principle when it comes to laying off troops.

Imagine you're the king and you don't need 5000 knights anymore. So you disband them. (Even though they probably aren't happy, since they're getting a huge paycheck while being a knight.) Part of your royal property is the horses and the weapons, can't you sell those and get back some of the money you paid to train the knight?
